A bridge is a series of crowns that replaces one or more missing teeth.
Like a crown, a bridge usually requires two visits to our office. At the first visit, the anchor teeth are shaped for the bridge and a temporary bridge placed. At the second visit, the temporary bridge is removed and the permanent bridge bonded into place. The permanent bridge will last for years to come.
Why replace a missing tooth?
Teeth are held together in tension. Once a tooth is removed, the adjacent teeth fall into the space, causing the bite to collapse. A collapsed bite can cause pain in the jaw joint, gum disease, decay, premature tooth wear and difficulties in chewing.
